It is a normal film coating system in which Hydroxypropyl Methyl Cellulose or Polyvinyl alcohol are used as polymers and mica based pigments are used. It can be used in all three dispersion media i.e aqueous, non-aqueous, hydro-alcoholic media. This type of coating prevents counterfeit of your tablets thereby protecting your tablets. The recommended weight gain is 3 % w/w.
